Susan Shaw
Susan is the co-owner of Shaw Insurance Agency, a family agency started in 1981 by her father, whose main passion was Real Estate, not Insurance! Susan and her husband Howard purchased the agency in 2000 where it was just one carrier and only wrote home! After studying Business and Marketing at Howard Payne University, Susan’s background had been in the Title business and selling Real Estate. Howard owned a contracting company for 17 years and then sold Real Estate as well. When the opportunity came up to purchase the agency, they jumped on it! At that point, they decided from day 1 that they did not want to try to be everything to everyone and that most importantly understood that all business is not good business. They only wanted to carry “A” rated carriers and began to build Shaw Insurance growing from the 1 home carrier only to now having a Personal Lines Department and Commercial Department with over 60 Carriers in house to serve their clients.
Married with 2 adult children and adult stepson and 2 dogs, she is an avid reader, mission minded world traveler and a self-described Community Volunteer junkie! Life in Shawville is never boring!
Growing up in Hurst, Susan learned early to give back to your community. Active in the Hurst Euless Bedford (HEB) Chamber of Commerce, Susan served as the 2021 Chairman and currently the Executive Board of Directors, Chairs WILD (Women Inspiring Leadership Development), has received numerous awards such as the 2015 Shining Star Award for her involvement in the Community Enrichment Center (CEC), 2017 HEB Chamber Member of the Year, 2018 Shining Star Award by the HEB Chamber, selected as the 2019 Director of the Year for the HEB Chamber, Recipient of the Gertrude Tarpley Award for 2020 and again 2022. 2022 Distinguished Leadership HEB Alumni and currently serves on the Leadership Steering Committee. Susan also held multiple Board positions during her membership with Metroplex Republican Women from 2000 to present.
